General Information
For several years, alcohol and drug abuse has afflicted American society. According to the US Department of Health and the Human Services Administration, an estimated 14.8 million Americans are current illicit drug users. Of that number, 11% of the youth between the ages of 12-17 currently abuse drugs and 20% of the young adults between the ages of 18-20 use illicit drugs. Heavy drinking occurs more frequently among young adults. The rate of current drug usage is higher among men (8.7%) than women (4.9%). Heavy drinking correlates very closely with illicit drug use. Of 12.4 million drinkers, 30.5% are also current drug users.
No business, regardless of size or location, is immune to the countless problems that alcohol and drug abuse can cause.
